I know. I know. Sigh. Without doing a quick check - more about my feeling lazy to do it, than a certain confidence in my ability to accurately recall - I believe the times I've missed my appointments have occurred mainly in the summer. Maybe it's the heat. Maybe it's all the additional activities and commitments that come with being a little more...available come summer. In any case, I do feel bad about missing any of my dates - 8th, 18th, 28th - but I try not to beat myself up over it. If you were looking out for the post yesterday, I am sorry.
Yesterday. Last night, as a matter of fact, was all about the Men's 200m finals at the #Rio2016 #Olympics. Usain Bolt - an oft-mentioned inspiration at the start of this blog - had already attained legend status as the first person to attain the historic feat of winning Gold in the 100m in three consecutive Olympics! Last night, he made it a Triple-Double! "What's that?" You ask. Glad you asked. He's now won both the Men's 100m and the 200m at three consecutive Olympic Games! And, I believe I'd still be accurate if I omitted the "consecutive". Tonight, he and the rest of the Jamaican team are going after the unprecedented Triple-Triple - adding victory in the Men's 4x100m relay to top it all off! I sincerely wish them well. It has been reported that Bolt has said this will be his last Olympics; that he will retire after World the Championships next year. Who knows? 🙂 Oh! I'm really moved by the #ForeverFaster/One Moment ad he did for Puma. "I look down the lane, and it's time to go." Love it! His 30th birthday is on Sunday, August 21. Happy Birthday, Mr. Bolt!
So, the acts of kindness, now. 🙂

A man and I sat diagonally across from each other in the 4-seater on the train. At the next station, and woman came up and sat next to me. A man sat next to my seat mate. I noticed the second man, holding his bulky knapsack, looked awfully uncomfortable. There was not enough room the three of them. Still, he closed his eyes, resigning himself to enduring the ride. A moment passed. In the next, I tapped uncomfortable man on his knee. He opened his eyes. "Do you wanna switch seats?" I asked. He nodded. I moved from my aisle seat to his. As I sat, taking up less room next to my new neighbour, my original seat mate, he leaned in a little and said with a smile, "You don't see many random acts of kindness on the GO train."
"Oh, now and then," I replied with a smile. And then I made this note. Of course.

I saw a guy stoop to give the man who was begging on the street some spare change.

Saw a Tweep post an urgent cry for ice cream. The long and short, someone granted her wish later that evening.

A friend of mine treated me to lunch. I was expecting neither the invitation, nor the treat. Nando's.

At a BBQ, a friend said she had a gift for me. It wasn't my birthday; hadn't won a prize or anything. Btw, it was a journal. Purple!

I along with a few family members were treated to dinner. This one I'd seen coming. Nando's. Yes, again.

A cashier in a bookshop took the time to give us detailed directions to the washroom in the mall. She didn't have to. Really.

It rained for most of the day. So, hair day! My mom did my twists and I did her cornrows.

We took the children - de niece and de nephew - out to a water park. I told the guy at the entrance that I had a 4yo and a 7yo. He said, "Okay, so how about they're both Four?" I smiled and thanked him.

For once, I saw the guy who blows the dry leaves from the backyard. I noticed something. After he went through the gate, he put the padlock on and locked it. I appreciated that.
Of course, gotta share a few pics from Rio - via CBC.
